LRT disruptions raising doubts.

LRT disruptions raising doubts

FAILURE to keep train schedules predictable is not going to endear the light rail transit (LRT) system to passengers. This is an unacceptable possibility for what is, in effect, the backbone of the much touted integrated public transportation system meant to solve the Greater Kuala Lumpur traffic congestion. For as long as passengers have no confidence that the system is reliable and works like clockwork, they will refuse to use the service, especially at peak hours. Unfortunately, the system has done exactly this; letting passengers down when it is most needed, leaving many stranded.

Urgent need to restore public confidence in LRT service, says minister

There is an urgent need to restore public confidence in the LRT service as the KPI target for morning ridership is more than 500,000 people, says Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. The Transport Minister said the recent rail service breakdown – twice in a week – did not augur well on the country’s public transportation system.
“The people’s have high hopes and expectations of the country’s LRT services.
“The breakdown should not have occurred and we hope Prasarana Malaysia Berhad can give a good explanation. “When you have this kind of hiccup, you must quickly explain, upgrade and take steps to regain public confidence to continue using public transport,” he said.

There's numerous complains at LRT official twitter account @AskRapidKL showing that passengers were disappointed and frustrated with LRT service.
