part of the country eagerly wait for this occasion. The occasion of teacher's
day is actually a way through which the students can express their genuine
appreciation and gratefulness to their teachers.
Apart from that, this day is also utilized by the students to pay respect and tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan for his philosophies. Dr. Radhakrishnan contributed a lot of useful articles and journals in various subjects like educational, theological, cultural, social, philosophical and ethical. This day that is his birthday is indeed a great way of remembering the huge contributions and honoring this legend, who have helped us in making our lives more knowledgeable.
The history behind teacher's day is actually quite interesting. One day, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was approached by some of his students as well as friends and they requested him to let them celebrate his birthday.
This incident took place during his presidential tenure. To their request, Dr. Radhakrishnan said them that instead of celebrating his birthday separately they should celebrate this day as teacher's day. He said that if they do so, it would be a great privilege for him. Since then onwards, September 5th, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday is celebrated as the day for appreciating the teachers throughout the country.

This day is not only the birth anniversary of the second Indian President but also is the day for admiring the sincere efforts and contributions of the teachers for building the basic foundation of India.
