ONLINE TRAINING ON MAR: DEVELOPING CREATIVITY THINKING & INNOVATION IN MANAGEMENT
In today’s society, many people experience information overload. We are bombarded with messages to believe various ideas, purchase things, support causes, and lead our lifestyle in a particular way. How do you know what to believe? How do you separate the truth from the myths?
The answer lies in critical thinking skills. The ability to clearly reason through problems and to present arguments in a logical, compelling way has become a key skill for survival in today’s world. This two-day workshop will give participants some practical tools and hands-on experience with critical thinking and problem solving.
Creativity has always been at the heart of human endeavour. Allied to innovation, which creates unexpected value, it is now recognised as central to organisational performance.
Some hold that the capacity to harness intellectual and social capital—and to convert that into novel and appropriate things—has become the critical organisational requirement of the age. The shift to knowledge economies has been abrupt and there is a flurry of interest in creativity and innovation in the workplace. Innovation is considered, quite simply, an imperative for organisational survival. It may even be the key to some of the biggest challenges facing the world, such as global warming and sustainable development. Notwithstanding, we are still far from a theory of organisational creativity: the avenues for promising research that might contribute to its emergence are innumerable because of the increasing use of systems approaches and the growing number of agents involved in knowledge flows.
Objectives:
- define critical and non-critical thinking
- identify their critical thinking style(s) including areas of strength and improvement
- describe other thinking styles, including left/right brain thinking and whole-brain thinking
- work through the critical thinking process to build or analyse arguments
- develop and evaluate explanations
- improve key critical thinking skills, including active listening and questioning
- use analytical thought systems and creative thinking techniques
- prepare and present powerful arguments
- underline the importance of creative thinking habit in management and problem solving
- understand the concept of creativity and innovation in business setting
- apply various creativity techniques in problem solving and decision making process
- apply six thinking hats in creativity and problem solving process
